Bespoke tensioner for demanding application

In 1993 PILGRIM supplied the original tensioner units for a Continuous Caster at Port Talbot in Wales. The requirements for ease of separation of the segments for periodic maintenance intervals. The caster segment has a radius of 15 m (45 ft length) and comes in two halves (fig.1 & 2).

In 2019 TSP were awarded the contract to refurbish the caster and contacted PILGRIM for the supply of 20 replacement tensioner units.

Solution

M64 x 6 high grade stainless steel tensioners with locking collars and Viton seals to combat heat and water spray. Pilgrim supplied the complete assembly comprising of:
