Nothing Shocks Pilgrim!

Due to Pilgrim’s experience and knowledge in bolting solutions for cutter dredgers it was natural that Pilgrim was approached to assist with Project Spartacus, the worlds largest Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) to review a re-usable bolting solution along the couplings of the cutter shaft. The idea was to provide a solution that removed the possibility of bolt hole damage in operation and stuck bolts when de-coupling, caused by the high vibration and massive shock when the cutter is in operation. After nearly a year of technical discussions and co-operation between the Ship owner, Builder and Pilgrim a suitable solution was found and in late April 2018 Pilgrim won the order for 96 hydraulic coupling bolts and installation equipment over six couplings along the cutter shaft of 1.7M diameter.
